Moriz Stangl studied Fine Arts, Performance („Body, Theory and Poetics of the Performative“) at the Stuttgart Art Academy and Philosophy at the University of Tübingen. His current dissertation project „Science and the Body of Art – Phenomenological, Psychoanalytical and Queer Theoretical Relationships“ aims to investigate the connection between art, science and the body, integrating different theoretical approaches such as phenomenology, psychoanalysis and queer theory. His research interests include: psychoanalytic cultural theory (Freud, Lacan), Maurice Merleau-Ponty, in particular theories of body and (dis)embodiment in Lacan and Merleau-Ponty; French Epistemology, queer and feminist theories of science (Karen Barad, Bruno Latour, Donna Haraway); the relationship between aesthetic and conceptualist traditions of art theory.
